Prepare your computer for BC’s time zone change
British Columbia’s new time zone takes effect on Nov 1, 2026. Please take a few steps to ensure your computer and calendar display the correct time.
What you need to do
- Update and restart your computer daily between now and Nov. 1 to ensure all updates are installed.
- Check your time zone settings
- Windows: Your device should display either (UTC−07:00) Pacific Time (British Columbia) or (UTC−07:00) Yukon.
- Mac: Your time zone location should be Vancouver or Kamloops.
Outlook calendar meetings Microsoft is releasing an update to adjust Outlook calendar meeting times. However, some recurring meetings may not update automatically and could require manual adjustments by the meeting organizer.
We would recommend not changing or rescheduling any Outlook meetings before Nov. 1, 2026. After Nov. 1, review your calendar and adjust meeting times if necessary.
Need help? If you experience issues with your TRU accounts after Nov. 1, first ensure all updates have been installed, and your device has been restarted. If the issue continues, submit a BC Time Zone Support Request.
